401(k) Sales Remain Strong Despite Slow Economy |
| |
|
According to a recent report that appeared in Investment News demand for small-business 401(k) plans remain strong, despite the economic downturn. During the first quarter of 2008, sales of 401(k) plans for businesses with fewer than 100 people jumped 116% compared to the first quarter last year, based on a research conducted by a firm in Bellevue, Washington. Interestingly, more than half of those plans sold to sole proprietors and the remainder sold to businesses with 2 - 99 employees. The firm believes the rise in sales relates to the increasing ease with which a company can establish a 401(k) retirement plan, combined with the tax incentive to do so. |
